Young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has revealed the reason behind him not shedding any tears after India's T20 World Cup 2024 win. After winning the title, most of the Indian players, especially the seniors like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Mohammed Siraj, were seen in tears.

While it was a huge moment in Indian cricket, as India had won an ICC tournament after 11 years, it proved to be an emotional moment for the senior players. India suffered a heartbreaking loss last year in ODI World Cup which made this year's T20 World Cup even more important.

In the final, there was a moment when the Men in Blue seemed to have lost another final but some inspired bowling performance from the seamers helped the team register a historic win over South Africa.

Arshdeep Singh reveals the reason why he could not cry after India's T20 World Cup win

During a chat with The Indian Express, Arshdeep Singh revealed the reason behind him not shedding any tears after the memorable win. The youngster credited the IPL and claimed that he doesn't have any emotions after playing so many close games in the IPL.

"I was very happy. In the IPL, I have played so many nerve-wracking matches for Punjab Kings that I don’t have any emotions left. Mai koshish kar raha tha but yaar aansu nikle nahi (I tried hard but just was not able to cry). I watched the legends of the game… Rohit bhai, Virat bhai, who have achieved so much… they just couldn’t control their emotions. I was happy for them. But I don’t know why I didn’t shed a tear," Arshdeep mentioned.

Arshdeep Singh picked up 17 wickets in eight matches of the T20 World Cup 2024 at an average of 12.64. He finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament along with Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi.

Arshdeep picked up wickets consistently with the new ball and was penetrative in the death as well. He formed a formidable pair with Jasprit Bumrah, who was adjudged the Player of the Tournament for his outstanding numbers.

Hobby for writing poetries

The 25-year-old also revealed his hobby of writing poetries and added that he will write something on the reception that Team India got after landing in the country.

"I haven’t got the chance yet (writing poetry). But whenever I get time, I will definitely put down my emotions on paper. This feeling of winning the World Cup, the reception we got…. I don’t think I would be able to do justice. I just love to write down whatever thoughts come to my mind. Writing poetry helps me take a break from cricket," Arshdeep said.

The emotions were all over India after the country received its first World Cup in 13 years. This was India's second T20 World Cup trophy after their first title win in the inaugural edition in 2007.
