England head coach Matthew Mott cautioned Jos Buttler's men to beware of the threat Rohit Sharma's India is going to pose in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final.

England and India are all set to lock horns against each other in the 2nd semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Providence stadium in Guyana. Both the teams will be playing out a replay of the previous T20 WC SF in 2022 at the Adelaide Oval wherein the English team, led by Jos Buttler had won by 10 wickets.

Under Jos Buttler's captaincy, the team went on to win the T20 World Cup edition at the Land Down Under, beating Pakistan in the finale. This year in their title defense, the English team has done everything well and is looking like a far better side than the team that had finished 7th in the ODI World Cup last year.

Regardless of whether England is a better side than their 2023 CWC team or not, they are certainly a team, that is capable of defending the title. The Three Lions took a lot of learnings from the 50-over WC last year and the implementation of that improvement has been evident in the West Indies and the USA.

For them to get one step closer to defending the title they won in 2022, England needs to beat the unbeaten Indian team in the semis. Jos Buttler and co. had found it very easy against India during the previous T20 WC semi-final but this time around, their head coach Matthew Mott has come up with a warning.

Matthew Mott says this Indian team under Rohit Sharma looks different

While speaking to press reporters, Matthew Mott shed light on how different he thinks the Indian team looks in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Mott highlighted that Rohit Sharma's men were quite unsure of how much they had to score to win in the 2022 SF on a good pitch at the Adelaide Oval.

"I think, when we go back to that semifinal, obviously on a good pitch in Adelaide, we put India in and that was a risk. I thought they weren't sure what a good score was." - Mott told press reporters.

Matthew Mott went on to further claim that Rohit Sharma and his Men in Blue are going to come hard at England this time around. Mott feels India will do everything to make sure they post a big total and try to put the pressure on the reigning champions. The English coach also believes that it will be a good contest between two of the most balanced sides in the T20 WC 2024.

"I think the approach now is maybe they come hard at us and try and maximize the powerplay and put the score out of our reach. I think we have got two very good batting line-ups, the bowlers are all class too. So I think it is all going to come down to on the day who sums up those conditions the quickest and who puts the opposition on the backfoot first." - Matthew Mott concluded.
