India's squad for the Women's T20 World Cup was announced by the BCCI on Tuesday. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead an experienced side looking for their first T20 World Cup glory. Kaur now will lead in her fourth T20 World Cup as captain after the 2018, 2022, and 2023 editions.

Meanwhile, a few warm-up matches have been scheduled for the Indian Women's National Cricket Team. These warm-up fixtures will be 20 overs per side and will not have international T20 status, allowing teams to field all members of their 15-player squad.

India To Play Warm-Up Games Against West Indies, South Africa

Ahead of the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup, India will play two warm-up matches against West Indies and South Africa in Dubai on September 29 and October 1 respectively.

All 10 teams that have qualified for the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 will participate in the practice games, with every side playing two warm-up games each. In the first two games, Pakistan takes on Scotland while Sri Lanka takes on Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, India are placed in Group A alongside Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Group B has England, South Africa, West Indies, Scotland and Bangladesh.

India have never won a T20 or a 50-over World Cup. Their luck in ICC tournaments have not clicked so far.

They reached the finals of the 2017 Women's ODI World Cup and lost to England. In the 2018 Women's T20 World Cup, India lost to England yet again in the semi-final after remaining unbeaten in the group stage.

In the 2020 edition of the tournament, India lost to Australia in the final match. In the 2023 edition, India yet again lost to Australia in the first semi-final.

India have had the wood over all the other teams in the tournament barring England and Australia. In this edition to win the tournament, they will need to find a way to get past them.

Harmanpreet Kaur, meanwhile is leading in ger fourth T20 World Cup as captain after 2018, 2020, and 2023. She has some unfinished business in her otherwise glorious career and she would want to end with at least one ICC tournament win.

The tournament gets underway on October 3 in Sharjah with the final slotted for October 20 in Dubai.

India begin their campaign against New Zealand in Dubai on October 4 in an evening game and will play Pakistan on October 6 at the same venue.

Talking about the T20 World Cup 2024, the tournament was originally to be played in Bangladesh.

However, the ICC shifted the tournament out of the country to the UAE following the civil protests followed by the social and political unrest in the country.

Bangladesh, however, remains the official host of the tournament. Apart from the 15-member squad, three traveling reserves have been added to the squad as well.
