Injury blow for Australia: Mitchell Marsh faces back issue ahead of Adelaide Test

Australia National Cricket Team are mulling over the fitness of Mitchell Marsh ahead of the second Test against the India National Cricket Team. The pink-ball game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be taking place in Adelaide from 6th December.

Ever since the first Test between India National Cricket Team and the Australia National Cricket Team has concluded, all-rounder Marsh has been in the news. The premier all-rounder since then has been struggling with his fitness, and there have been doubts over his availability for the next game.

Marsh pulled up sore after the first Test against the India National Cricket Team and also the head coach Andrew McDonald mentioned that the all-rounder has faced some niggles. But a few days back, the player himself confirmed that he was fine and would be available for the second match.

But two days ahead of the second Test, as per the Australian broadcaster SEN, Mitchell Marsh has faced a fresh injury. The all-rounder has suffered a back problem, and there are doubts about his fitness. It is learned that he won't be able to bowl in the second game and will be playing as a specialist batter if he is slotted into the team.

Australia National Cricket Team also added all-rounder Beau Webster to their squad for the second Test against the India National Cricket Team. With Mitchell Marsh not being bowling fit, there are high chances that the former might play the second Test of the series in Adelaide.

Mitchell Marsh played a decent role for the Australia National Cricket Team in the first Test, which took place in Perth. The all-rounder picked up two wickets in the first innings and scored 6 runs with the bat. He brought his best with the bat in the second innings, where he scored 47 runs and also picked 1 scalp.

There were reports in Fox Cricket, which stated that the Australia National Cricket Team would be forced to hand a debut to Beau Webster or wicketkeeper batter Josh Inglis in place of Mitchell Marsh.

Steve Smith was hit on the right thumb during the net session ahead of the second Test against India

This, however, is not only the concern that the Australia National Cricket Team is facing. They also faced an injury scare related to Steve Smith. The premier batter was hit on the hand while taking throwdowns from teammate Marnus Labuschagne during net sessions on Tuesday.

Steve Smith was hit on the right thumb and he looked in immense pain. The premier batter winced in pain and had to walk out of the nets. Although there is no official confirmation on his status, he will likely be playing the pink-ball Test against the India National Cricket Team in Adelaide.
