The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL), 2026, match no.30 between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Mumbai Indians (MI). While chasing the target of 200 runs, the Titans were struck with an early blow as Jasprit Bumrah was back among the wickets after failing to take wickets in the last five matches.

Jaspirt Bumrah picked up the wicket of the very first ball of the second innings, with Sai Sudharsan going back for a golden duck. Bumrah got the new ball, and in the first over, he showcased his class in the IPL. The team India spearhead has been economical with his bowling but failing to find the wickets in the tournament; this wicket will surely provide him with much confidence.

Jasprit Bumrah back in form

This was the first time Jasprit Bumrah bowled the first over in the IPL 2026, because Trent Boult was bowling the new ball, and then from the other end, Hardik Pandya or Deepak Chahar was bowling. This was one of the reasons he was unable to create much pressure in the game.

This was Jasprit Bumrah's seventh time bowling the first over of an innings in the IPL. Before today, he had done it twice in 2014, three times in 2018, and once in 2022. It was his first wicket after 146 balls in the IPL, and his first after 114 balls overall.

Tilak Varma fired for MI

Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to field first. They had a good start with the ball, picking two early wickets as Kagiso Rabada, with both Danish Malewar and Quinton de Kock back in the pavilion.

Then Naman Dhir and Tilak Varma stitched a partnership between them after the fall of Suryakumar Yadav for 15 runs. Naman scored 45 runs, and then Tilak stitched a partnership of 81 runs with his captain, Hardik Pandya.

Tilak Varma was there till the end, playing an unbeaten knock of 101 runs off 45 balls. It was his first century in the IPL, and it is also the joint-fastest century for a Mumbai Indians batter in the tournament.

GT, while chasing, has also lost the wickets of Sai, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler early, with the Mumbai bowlers at the top in the game, as GT are 45/3 after the end of the power play.
