IPL 2021 will soon fill the days and nights of Indian cricket fans with enjoyment. The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is set to start on April 9, 2021. The tournament will see 8 teams competing in nail-biting matches to lift the trophy. The tournament will kick-off with the first match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The tournament will conclude with the final game on May 30, 2021, at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmadabad.

The group stage consists of 56 matches. All the matches in IPL 2021 will be played at six venues which are Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmadabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai. The playoffs and final game will be played at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmadabad. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings are the 3 out of the 8 teams that eye to win their first IPL trophy in IPL 2021.

Maiden overs are something that helps a bowler to better his economy rate in a match. While maiden overs are quite common in Test cricket, it is a rare phenomenon in the T20 format. Bowling a maiden over in T20 format is a big achievement as it decreases the run rate of the batting team. Although bowling a maiden over in a T20 match is a very tough task, many bowlers have managed to bowl maiden overs in IPL. Four bowlers have bowled 8 maiden overs in IPL. So, we rank them according to their economy rates. Sandeep Sharma bags the 5th spot with 8 maiden overs at an economy of 7.71. The right-arm pacer Sandeep Sharma played for Kings XI Punjab from IPL 2013 to IPL 2017. Since IPL 2018, he has been part of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has also bowled 8 maiden overs in IPL but he has an economy of 7.23. The right-arm pacer Kumar has bowled over 449 overs in IPL so far and taken 136 wickets. Bhuvneshwar played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2009 and IPL 2010. Later, he represented Pune Warriors India. Since IPL 2014, he has been part of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Lasith Malinga

Lasith Malinga is part of most of the bowling records in IPL and this list too has his name. The former Sri Lanka pacer has also bowled 8 maiden overs in IPL. He has an overall bowling economy of 7.14. From IPL 2008 to IPL 2020, Malinga played for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. He is also the highest wicket-taker with 170 wickets in 122 matches.

Irfan Pathan

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has bowled 10 maiden overs in IPL and this gives him 2nd spot on the list. Irfan Pathan played 103 matches in IPL. Out of his 340 overs in IPL, 10 were maiden overs. For left-arm pacer, Irfan Pathan played for Kings XI Punjab from IPL 2008 to IPL 2010. From IPL 2011 to IPL 2013, he played for Delhi Daredevils. He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2014, Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2015, Rising Pune Supergiants in IPL 2016, and Gujarat Lions in IPL 2017. At present, Irfan Pathan is an active commentator in IPL.

Praveen Kumar has become history in the Indian Premier League but he still has bowled most maiden overs in the history of the tournament. The former Indian cricketer has bowled 14 maiden overs in the Indian Premier League. The right-arm pacer Praveen Kumar played 119 matches in IPL and grabbed 90 wickets. Praveen Kumar played for multiple teams in his IPL career.

From IPL 2008 to IPL 2010, he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore. From IPL 2011 to IPL 2013, he played for Kings XI Punjab. Mumbai Indians inducted him in the squad in IPL 2014. In IPL 2015, Praveen Kumar played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. In IPL 2016 and IPL 2017, Praveen Kumar played for Gujarat Lions.
