IPL 2021 commences on April 9, 2021, with the first match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians at M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. IPL 2021 matches will be hosted in six venues and no team will get the home advantage during the tournament. Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmadabad will host the playoffs and final.

IPL tournaments have seen amazing innings by many batsmen who enthralled spectators with their big sixes and boundaries. 5. Chennai Super Kings- 240/5

Chennai Super Kings has scored the 5th highest team total ever in the Indian Premier League. The MS Dhoni-led team scored 240/5 against Kings XI Punjab in the very first edition of IPL in 2008. The match was played at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on April 19, 2008.

It was the second game of the tournament and Chennai Super Kings put a massive total on the scoreboard. Michael Hussey smashed an unbeaten knock of 116 runs off 54 balls, which tool CSK to 240/5 at the end of 20 overs. In response, Punjab Kings scored 207/4 in 20 overs with half-centuries from Kumar Sangakkara and James Hopes. CSK won the match by 33 runs in the end.

4. Kolkata Knight Riders – 245/6

Kolkata Knight Riders have hit the 4th highest team total in IPL history. Kolkata Knight Riders smashed 245/6 on the scoreboard in a match against Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2018. The match was played at Holkar Stadium in Indore on May 12, 2018. Batting first, Sunil Narine gave a quick start to KKR with his 36-ball-75 knock. Later, Dinesh Karthik hit a half-century off 23 balls and Andre Russell smashed a quickfire knock of 31 runs of 14 balls. This helped KKR to reach a mammoth 245/6 in 20 overs.

In response, Kings XI Punjab scored 214/8 in 20 overs. KL Rahul played a great inning of 66 off 29 balls and R Ashwin added 45 runs to the team total. However, this was not enough for Kings XI Punjab as they lost the match by 31 runs. Sunil Narine was awarded player of the match.

3. Chennai Super Kings – 246/5

Chennai Super Kings also holds the record for the 3rd highest team total in the Indian Premier League. It happened during Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals match in IPL 2010. The match was played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Chennai Super Kings batted first in the match. Murali Vijay and Albie Morkel were the stars of the match. Vijay smashed a 127-run knock off 56 balls while Morkel hit 62 runs off 34 balls to take CSK to a massive total in the first innings. CSK ended with 246/5 in 20 overs.

In response, Rajasthan Royals also played fabulous innings scoring 223/5 in 20 overs. Naman Ojha smashed 94 runs off 55 balls while Shane Watson played a quickfire knock of 60 runs off 25 balls. Rajasthan Royals lost the match by 23 runs and Murali Vijay was awarded player of the match for his magnificent century.

2. Royal Challengers Bangalore- 248/3

Royal Challengers Bangalore has scored the 2nd highest team total in IPL history. The match was played during IPL  2016 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Lions at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The match witnessed Royal Challengers Bangalore taking the scoreboard to 248/3 while batting first.

RCB skipper Virat Kohli smashed a 109-run-knock while AB de Villiers assisted with a 129-run-knock to take RCB to a massive total. Kohli hit 8 sixes in the match while De Villiers hit 12 sixes. With 248/3 on the scoreboard, RCB enthralled the spectators with their batting. In response, Gujarat Lions were bowled out for just 104 runs in 18.4 overs. RCB won the match by 144 runs which is the 2nd biggest victory by a margin of runs to date.

Royal Challengers Bangalore has smashed the highest total in IPL. In IPL 2013, Royal Challengers Bangalore put up 263/5 on the scoreboard which is the highest score any team has ever reached in the Indian Premier League so far. The match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Opener Chris Gayle amused everyone with his unbeaten 175 runs in the match, which is still the highest individual score in IPL. He hit 17 sixes and 13 boundaries for his innings. His knock was enough to take RCB to a mammoth 263/5 in 20 overs. In response, Pune Warriors scored 133/9 in 20 overs with Steve Smith’s highest individual score of 41. RCB won the match by 130 runs and Chris Gayle was awarded player of the match for his spectacular innings.
