Chennai Super Kings will play their first match in IPL 2021 against Delhi Capitals on April 10, 2021, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Due to the absence of Suresh Raina and Dwayne Bravo in IPL 2020, CSK had a troublesome season last year. The MS Dhoni-led side finished on the 7th spot on the points table, their worst-ever performance in Indian Premier League so far.

However, this time, CSK will try to make a comeback. CSK also bought Krishnappa Gowtham and Moeen Ali during IPL 2021 auction and they are expected to strengthen the squad. Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore match in IPL 2019 witnessed a nail-biting final over. While batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 161/7. In reply, all of the CSK players failed to perform except MS Dhoni who came out to be a one-man army in the match. Chennai Super Kings were railing at 28-4 when MS Dhoni came to the crease. He kept his wicket and played with patience while others kept on losing their wickets.

In the last over, CSK needed 26 runs with MS Dhoni on strike. The CSK skipper Dhoni smashed bowler Umesh Yadav for 3 sixes and 1 four in the over. On the last ball, MS Dhoni needed to score 2 runs to win. However, he missed the ball which went directly into wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel’s hand. As MS Dhoni tried to take a run, Patel hit the stumps and the non-striker Shardul Thakur got out. After the nail-biting final over, RCB managed to win by just 1 run in the end.

This was the very first match of IPL 2018 and gave a thrilling start to the tournament. Mumbai Indians scored 165-4 batting first with Ishant Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav scoring 40 and 43 respectively. In response, Dwayne Bravo smashed a 68-run-knock off just 30 balls to take CSK closer to victory. Bravo lost his wicket in the 19th over and CSK needed to score 7 runs off the last over.

However, CSK only had 1 wicket remaining and injured Kedar Jadhav had to take the strike on the batting end. Due to injury, Jadhav was unable to run. However, he hit a six off the 4th ball and a four off the 5th ball to win the match for Chennai Super Kings. CSK won the match by just 1 wicket and it was a thrilling match to watch.

This match is remembered for Faf du Plessis’ spectacular batting performance. Sunrisers Hyderabad put up a target of 140 runs for Chennai Super Kings. While batting second, CSK lost some crucial wickets and were railing at 62-6 at one moment. Faf du Plessis, who opened the innings with Shane Watson, kept his patience and did not lose his wicket.

At one moment, CSK were railing at 113-8 but Plessis was still on the crease. The South African cricketer hit a six off the final over to hand victory to Chennai Super Kings by 2 wickets in the end. Since it was Qualifier 1 match, CSK reached the final after winning the match.

Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Daredevils match in IPL 2015 was another interesting game to look upon. CSK won the match by just 1 run in the end. Batting first, CSK scored 150/7 in 20 overs. DD reached 132-2 after the end of the 19th over and needed 19 runs off the last over.

Dwayne Bravo bowled the final over and Albie Morkel hit enough shots to take the match to the final delivery. DD needed 6 runs off the last ball but Albie Morkel could only hit a boundary and CSK won the match by just 1 run.

Chennai Super Kings accounted for their highest ever score in IPL 2010 in a match against Rajasthan Royals. Batting first, CSK scored a massive 246/5 in 20 overs with a spectacular century by Murali Vijay. Opener Vijay smashed 127 runs off just 56 balls to take CSK to the mammoth total of 246/5. This is also the 3rd highest total in the Indian Premier League so far. In response, Rajasthan Royals also played brilliantly but could only score 223/5 in 20 overs. CSK won the match by 23 runs and the match registered itself in the record books.
