IPL Points Table 2026: Updated Standings, Orange Cap, Purple Cap After PBKS vs RR Match 40

The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match no.40, was between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Rajasthan Royals at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium, New Chandigarh. It was another high-scoring affair at the New Chandigarh as the Punjab Kings were handed their first defeat of the IPL 2026 by the Royals. RR won the match by six wickets.
RR won the toss and opted to field first, as they made two changes in the side with Ravi Bishnoi and Shimron Hetmyer being replaced by Dasun Shanaka and Yash Raj Punja. PBKS also made two changes, one was a forced one with Shashank Singh missing out and Xavier Bartlett going out, as Suryansh Shedge and Lockie Ferguson came in.
IPL 2026: PBKS vs RR Match Result:
After being invited to bat first, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh once again gave a fiery start, but the former was dismissed after a blistering innings of 29 off 10 balls, with Jofra Archer picking the wicket. However, Prabhsimran did not stop his aggressive attitude, and PBKS scored 65/1 in the power play.
Cooper Connolly, who looked in good touch, scored 30 off 14 balls. Prabhsimran brought his fifty in 35 balls as the Kings were at a good stage, 118/2 after the end of 11 overs. The latter was dismissed on the score of 59 off 44 balls, with Yash Punja picking his second wicket.
The Rajasthan bowlers pulled in the middle overs, as Shreyas Iyer could not get going, as he was back after scoring 30 off 27 balls. However, Marcus Stoinis’s blistering innings, scoring 62 off 22 balls as PBKS scored 222/4 in their 20 overs.
Coming out to chase, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal were off to a flying start. They scored 50 inside three overs, but the 5-year-old was dismissed after a blistering knock of 43 off just 16 deliveries. They scored 84/1 in the power play with Jaiswal striking after Vaibhav’s wicket.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 51 off 27 balls, and a solid 29 off 16 balls from the Royals skipper helped them to be in the game. Later on, at the death, Shubham Dubey and Donovan Ferreira played some amazing knocks and took their team home, as they remained unbeaten with the score of 31 off 12 balls and 52 off 26 balls.
