Punjab Kings (PBKS) participated in IPL 2021 auction with the highest salary cap of Rs. 53.20 crore. Out of this, PBKS spent Rs. 47.90 crore to buy 9 cricketers during the mini-auction. With short of quality pace bowlers in the team, Punjab Kings bought Aussie pacer Jhye Richardson for Rs. 14 crores and Riley Meredith for Rs. 8 crores.

Some other big deals of PBKS were all-rounders Shahrukh Khan and Moises Henriques, who was bought for Rs. 5.25 crore Rs. 4.2 crore respectively.

Dawid Malan entered PBKS at his base price of Rs. 1.5 crore. Fabian Allen (Rs. 75 lakh), Jalaj Saxena (Rs. 30 lakh), Saurabh Kumar (Rs. 20 lakh) and Utkarsh Singh (Rs. 20 lakh) were the other cricketers PBKS bought during the auction.

Ahead of IPL 2021 auction, PBKS released 9 players out of their squad. Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cottrell, Mujeeb Zadran, Hardus Viljoen, James Neesham, Krishnappa Gowtham, Karun Nair, Jagadeesha Suchith and Tejinder Singh Dhillon had to bid goodbye to Punjab Kings.

Punjab Kings finished on the bottom-most spot in IPL 2020. After the addition of 9 new players, PBKS will send the best 11 players on the field, so that they give an outstanding performance during the tournament.

The wicket-keeper batsman scored 670 runs in 14 matches which included one century and 5 half-centuries. In KL Rahul, PBKS have found a reliable skipper who can lead PBKS to a title victory.

Post-IPL 2020, right-handed batsman Rahul also played few good innings during India vs Australia 2020 ODI and T20I series. Donning the role of an opener, wicket-keeper, and skipper for Punjab Kings in IPL 2021, Rahul is expected to feature in every game of the tournament.
