The COVID-19 pandemic has started cutting through the upcoming edition of IPL 2021, set to begin from the 9th of April. As per a report from the Times of India, one of the members of the Chennai Super Kings’ content team has tested positive for COVID-19. The member stands isolated now and the report confirmed that he had not been anywhere near the players or support staff.

Chennai Super Kings also went through a hurdle before IPL 2020 in the UAE as 13 members of the contingent tested positive for COVID-19. Seamer Deepak Chahar and batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad were amongst those who were infected as well. Both the cricketers participated in the competition after recovering from the same. The Super Kings’ players landed in Mumbai last week and kickstarted their preparations.

A source told the Times of India that it’s a member of the CSK’s content team as his tests came out today and he is serving the mandatory quarantine to recover from the disease. The source also revealed that he had not been in contact with the players or the support staff, making them safe to continue their practice. The member has to test negative before rejoining the franchise.

“It is an official from the CSK content team. His tests came through today, following which he has been completely isolated from the rest of the squad. It can be confirmed that he didn’t go anywhere near the players and support staff. So they are all safe and the team will continue to practice as usual today,” the source claimed as quoted by Times of India.

Meanwhile, the Super Kings’ official from the content team is the third instance of a member testing positive for COVID-19. An hour ago, Delhi Capitals’ Axar Patel was revealed to have contracted the deadly virus. Furthermore, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Nitish Rana had tested positive for COVID-19 a month back. While he had a negative report and checked into the team hotel on the 21st of March, he again tested positive a day later.
