The 29-year-old wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey has recently shown strong T20 batting performances as an opener. In the IPL 2021 auction, many franchises can show their high interest to buy this Australian cricketer.

In 30 T20Is, Alex Carey has scored 176 runs with an average of 12.57. While the IPL 2020 was his first IPL experience, he played three matches for Delhi Capitals and scored only 32 runs (average 16.00). Recently, Delhi Capitals have also released him ahead of the IPL 2021 auction.

However, Carey has highly impressed in the BBL 2020/21. While his team Adelaide Strikers just ended their journey in the tournament after losing the Eliminator, Carey was their second most run-scorer with 425 runs in 13 matches (average 32.69; strike-rate 122.12), including one century and two half-centuries.

Out of the two centuries in the league stage of the BBL 10, Carey was the first centurion (101 against Brisbane Heat at Adelaide on 10th January 2021).

As an opener, the left-handed batsman Alex Carey is looking very good. He is also the regular wicket-keeper batsman for Australia in limited-overs international matches. So, apart from his wicket-keeping, the IPL franchises can also buy him from the IPL 2021 auction to fulfil their opening slots. Carey is also very desperate to experience another IPL season.

Delhi Capitals have just released Alex Carey ahead of the IPL 2021 auction. But while they still need at least one more wicket-keeper, an opener will also strengthen this squad. So, the Delhi franchise can think to buy him again from the IPL 2021 auction, especially after watching his recent batting form.

Delhi Capitals Head Coach Ricky Ponting has also recently revealed that there is a strong chance that they can put a strong bid for this Aussie wicket-keeper batsman. Ponting has also communicated with Carey on this matter. While Delhi Capitals still can add three overseas cricketers, Carey can be their major choice.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) already have the wicket-keepers AB de Villiers and Josh Philippe. But they will like to add one more wicket-keeper in their squad. Moreover, while they have released the Australian limited-overs captain Aaron Finch, they need to add some quality opening batsmen.

Alex Carey can be a wise choice for the RCB in the IPL 2021 auction, especially when the franchise still have three overseas slots vacant. The left-handed opening batsman can fit with the team perfectly.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have two available slots for the overseas cricketers and they have to find out some good opening batsmen during the IPL 2021 auction. Apart from Shubman Gill, the franchise is now struggling to set up another dependable opening batsman.

KKR will be happy to add Australian cricketer Alex Carey in the squad. With the presence of Indian youngster Gill, KKR management can set up a good left-hand and right-hand opening batting combination.
