New Zealand cricketer Collin Munro can become the special player during the IPL 2021 auction due to his recent form in the Big Bash League 2020/21.

The 33-year-old opening batsman Colin Munro has served for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League 2020/21. Scorchers’ leading run-scorer in this tournament, Munro has scored 441 runs in 14 matches (average 33.92; strike-rate 128.94). In this tournament, he has already hit four half-centuries, including three successive 50s.

Colin Munro has also experienced three IPL seasons – 2016 for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and 2018-2019 for Delhi Capitals (DC). After playing 13 IPL matches, he scored 177 runs, including his highest score of 40. But there is no doubt that he is one of greatest T20 opening batsmen, as he has already smashed four T20 centuries, including three in T20 international cricket.

So, the franchises who are struggling with the opening batting can put the strong bids for Colin Munro in the IPL 2021 auction.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) require some good top-order batsmen, including openers. Though they have English cricketers Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes, Rajasthan Royals will like to utilise Stokes in the middle-order batting rather than the opening position.

While Rajasthan Royals still can buy three overseas cricketers in the IPL 2021 auction, Colin Munro can be one of their strong choices. The New Zealand batsman can be a good fit in this team.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

In the absence of former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will try to find out one dependable and experienced opening batsman. After watching the latest BBL season, CSK can consider New Zealand opener Colin Munro, who also has very good experiences.

While CSK have only one spot left for the overseas cricketers, they will work on it very carefully. Munro’s experience can put him in the favourite position in this special list.

Colin Munro made his IPL debut for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as he played 4 IPL matches for this team in the IPL 2016. In that tournament, the New Zealand batsman scored only 30 runs.

But while he is currently in very good form with the bat and he has also become more mature and strong batsman, KKR can once again consider him during the upcoming IPL 2021 auction. KKR currently have two spots left for the overseas cricketers and they need a solid opening batsman to provide a good support to the Indian youngster Shubman Gill.
