Glenn Maxwell sold to RCB for INR 14.25 crores.

Glenn Maxwell is yet another player in the auction list who will enter the IPL 2021 auction with a base price of INR 2 crores. While Glenn Maxwell has been far from a consistent player in the past few seasons of IPL, there is little doubt that he will be amongst the most in-demand. Maxwell represented Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020 and endured a forgettable edition and received a bid of INR 10.75 crores.

The right-handed batsman managed only 108 runs in 13 games at 15.43 with a strike rate of 101.89 and failed even to hit a single six. However, the 32-year old hit his straps in the Australian summer after that in the limited-over games after IPL. The Victorian’s form was also decent in BBL 2020-21, managing 379 runs in 14 matches at 31.38.

Glenn Maxwell’s performance in IPL 2020 came under-fire as plenty of experts questioned the hype behind him and why the franchise shell out hefty bucks. But he shut all his critics when he carted the ball to all parts of the ground during the Australian summer against India. The 32-year old hammered boundaries at will against the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravindra Jadeja.

Along with his batting, the Victorian is also a handy option with the ball and a terrific fielder, who could take outstanding catches and effect game-changing and breathtaking run-outs. Thus, all these factors make him an unpredictable prospect and the franchises could yet again fight tooth and nail for Maxwell.
