IPL 2021 Auction: Rajasthan Royals Complete Squad After The Auction

Rajasthan Royals will begin a new era under Sanju Samson’s leadership as the franchise decided to go for an Indian skipper after persisting with Steve Smith for a year and a half. With Steve Smith at the helm in IPL 2020, Rajasthan Royals did not go past the group stage and finished at the bottom position. They managed six victories and while there were occasional sparks around their performances, inconsistencies remained at heart.

Thus, ahead of the IPL 2021 auction, Rajasthan Royals decided to release Steve Smith amongst several other players. Steve Smith, who is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen of the modern era, could not live up to the standards expected, experiencing a mediocre season with the bat. Alongside the former Australian captain, the inaugural IPL champions also let go of men like Tom Curran, Ankit Rajpoot, Oshane Thomas, and Varun Aaron. The available slots to fill comprise of eight, of which three include the overseas ones.
