Indian Test legend Cheteshwar Pujara will make a return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a gap of seven years after the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings claimed his service in the IPL 2021 Auction.

Pujara, who had listed himself at a base price of Rs 50 Lakh, found unexpected takers in the form of Chennai Super Kings for the said amount.

And, what followed next was heartwarming to see as the entire room gave applause to the Super Kings for claiming the services for the Indian Test spearhead.

This will be Chesteshwar Pujara’s first stint in the cash-rich league after a gap of seven years. The Indian Test No.3 has in the past represented teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings.

In 30 IPL games that Pujara has played between 2010-14, he has scored 390 runs at an average of 20.53 and a strike-rate of 99.7.

Overall, Cheteshwar Pujara has featured in 64 T20 games, in which he has scored 1356 runs at an average of 29.47 and a strike-rate of 109.35, which includes seven fifties and one hundred.
