Delhi Capitals pacer Anrich Nortje has said that his team has a great combination of players in IPL 2021. The South Africa cricketer also said that Delhi Capitals are missing skipper Shreyas Iyer in the squad. Iyer got injured during India vs England 1st ODI last month and had to undergo shoulder surgery.
Due to the surgery and its recovery process, the Delhi Capitals skipper had to skip IPL 2021 tournament. Rishabh Pant has been nominated as the new skipper for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021.
Anrich Nortje joined the Delhi Capitals squad a little later. Nortje and Kagiso Rabada, who are part of the Delhi Capitals, arrived late in India for IPL 2021 due to South Africa’s ODI series against Pakistan. They had to undergo a 7-day quarantine process due to which they could not play Delhi Capitals’ first match against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021.
We Are Unfortunately Missing Shreyas Iyer: Anrich Nortje
In a video shared by Delhi Capitals on social media, Nortje talked about the strengths of his team Delhi Capitals.
“We are unfortunately missing Shreyas (Iyer), but we definitely have a great combination of players. We have got a great bowling line-up as well. It’s just about picking the right team on the right wicket and conditions.
“We definitely have a lot of options in our bowling line-up, which is really nice to have and hopefully, we can make the best of the conditions and the different players that we have got,” Anrich Nortje said.
The South African pacer Nortje also said that Delhi Capitals will not underestimate any team in IPL 2021 since every side is really competitive.
“There’s no team that’s got a bad team, so every side is really competitive, and it can come off for anyone on any day. We are definitely not going to underestimate anyone, and hopefully, we can bring our A-game (against Punjab Kings),” Anrich Nortje further said.

Anrich Nortje will be looking forward to the match against Punjab Kings, which will be his first game in IPL 2021. Nortje and Rabada were sure to miss the first game of Delhi Capitals due to quarantine protocols.
Nortje could have played the 2nd match of Delhi Capitals, but he was tested positive for Covid-19. However, it was discovered that the test gave false reports and Nortje was allowed to join the DC’s training camp.
Rabada was part of the Delhi Capitals team in their 2nd match against Rajasthan Royals, which the former lost by 3 wickets. Tom Curran has replaced Anrich Nortje in the Delhi Capitals’ playing XI so far.
However, Nortje is expected to replace Tom Curran in upcoming matches of Delhi Capitals. Delhi Capitals will face Punjab Kings on Sunday (April 18) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
