IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals Departs For UAE To Prepare For Second Leg Of The Tournament

IPL franchise Delhi Capitals departed for UAE on Saturday (August 21) for the second leg of the IPL 2021 season. The franchise shared a video on social media in which they shared the moments of players leaving for UAE for the tournament. Teams like Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians reached UAE last week and have already begun their training and practice sessions.

Delhi Capitals’ skipper Shreyas Iyer is already in UAE with the fitness coach. Some of the Delhi Capitals players like Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Umesh Yadav are currently in the UK for the ongoing England Test tour and will join their franchise after completing their international commitments. IPL 2021, which was suspended due to Covid-19 in May, will resume on September 19 in UAE.

We’re Off To UAE! Delhi Capitals Shares Post On Instagram

Delhi Capitals shared a video on Instagram in which their players can be seen departing for UAE. “Phir Se Ud Chala 2.0… We’re off to UAE”, the franchise captioned the video. Have a look at Delhi Capital’s Instagram video below.

 

IPL 2021 will kick off with the first match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in Dubai on September 19, 2021. Later, Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi on September 20. Sharjah will witness its first match on September 24, when Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings will collide against each other.

Currently, Dehli Capitals hold the top spot in the points table with 12 points. The Rishabh Pant-led side has won 6 matches out of 8. Chennai Super Kings are placed on the 2nd spot with 10 points, winning 5 games out of 7. Royal Challengers Bangalore stations on the 3rd spot with an equal no. of points as of Chennai Super Kings.

Delhi Capitals was led by Rishabh Pant in the first leg of IPL 2021 as their regular skipper Shreyas Iyer suffered an elbow injury. He was also expected to be ruled out of the tournament. However, since the tournament got postponed, Iyer got enough time to recover and can lead the team in the UAE leg.
