IPL 2021: I'll Always Have MS Dhoni In My Team, Says Imran Tahir

Former South African spinner Imran Tahir has admitted that he will always have MS Dhoni in his team — and also that he enjoys the company of the former Indian captain. Imran Tahir has part of the CSK Team for the last three years in the Indian Premier League and won the purple cap in 2019 under MS Dhoni.

Imran Tahir is one of the best T20 spinners in the world right now and has been playing in various tournaments around the globe after retiring from international cricket.

MS Dhoni has led CSK to three trophies in 2010,2011 and 2018. He has a tremendous captaincy record and 2020 was the first year that CSK did not qualify for the playoffs from the inaugural edition apart from the two year ban in 2016,2017.

MS Dhoni will remain the captain for the 2021 IPL where the likes of Suresh Raina have returned to the squad after missing out of the squad in the last IPL due to personal reasons.

Imran Tahir Heaps Praise On Dhoni

Imran Tahir explained that Dhoni reads the game very well and has excellent cricket knowledge. He told that Dhoni knows the right field for the particular bowler and the bowler’s job is to execute his plans. He told that he cherishes Dhoni’s company and wishes that he is part of CSK for a long time. Tahir also mentioned Dhoni understanding the mindset of everybody in the team and also told that Dhoni respects everyone.

“It is always a pleasure to play with that guy (MS Dhoni). Have been playing with him for the last three years. For me, he is a great, great human being.”

“He understands everybody, respects everybody. We love him. He is the guy who has got the knowledge, and is the best in the world. You don’t have to say anything to him. He knows what field he needs to set for us, and we just need to come and bowl,” Imran Tahir told SportsKeeda.

“It is a pleasure to be in his company. (One can) learn a lot of things. And that’s what you want as a cricketer. I’ll always have him in my team. I wish that I just keep going and play for CSK. I am really enjoying my cricket,” he added

CSK Expected To ComeBack Strong For IPL 2021

After a poor show in the 2020 IPL, Imran Tahir hoped to turn around the fortunes for CSK this time. Tahir told about the team culture being very important when the team is losing matches. He mentioned that he wants to give his 500% effort for the franchise this year.

“We have been calm as ever. Obviously, we were sad and disappointed because we weren’t winning. But, that’s not always (possible). I think the team culture is more important. Everyone understood what was happening.”

“We are hoping for a very good season again. And, we are going to work harder and come back with better planning. Hopefully, we will do very well this year for CSK. As a player, the franchise looked after us so well. We want to give our 500 percent for them,” Imran Tahir further said.

CSK have released their expensive players like Kedar Jadhav and Piyush Chawla before the IPL auction in the process of building a strong core for next year’s mega auction.
