Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan feels that Hardik Pandya should show some responsibility as a batsman while playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2021. Pathan’s opinion comes after Mumbai Indians lost to Delhi Capitals after putting a low total on the scoreboard while batting first. Hardik Pandya was out for a duck on Amit Mishra’s delivery in the match, which Delhi Capitals won by 6 wickets.

Hardik Pandya, who has avoided bowling for Mumbai Indians in 4 matches of IPL 2021 so far, has not been able to make a mark with the bat. In 4 matches in IPL 2021 so far, Pandya has only managed 35 runs.

In the first match against RCB, he scored 13 runs. In the 2nd match against KKR, Pandya scored 15 runs. In the 3rd match against SRH, Pandya scored 7 runs. Against Delhi Capitals, Pandya failed to even score a single run.

Hardik Pandya Needs To Show Some Responsibility: Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan said that Hardik Pandya needs to show some responsibility as a batter. He posted a tweet after Mumbai Indians’ defeat against Delhi Capital that read, “If Hardik isn’t bowling and not scoring runs lately will hurt #Mi badly. He needs to show some responsibility as a batter”.

Hardik Pandya hasn’t bowled a single over for Mumbai Indians so far. It is believed that he doesn’t want to bowl owing to his back surgery. Last year in IPL 2020, Hardik Pandya managed to take charge of batting when Mumbai Indians’ top and middle-order could not score many runs. However, in IPL 2021, the Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder is yet to show his magic with the bat.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians have lost 2 matches out of 4 in IPL 2021 so far. The Rohit Sharma-led side has played four games at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai so far. They lost their opening match against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 2 wickets.

However, they bounced back with victories against Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad by 13 runs and 10 runs respectively. But they again lost to Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets in their previous game. With 4 points, the defending champions MI are placed on the 4th spot in the points table.
