Former Australian quick Brett Lee has opined that the Chennai pitch has been shocking after the way it has behaved so far in IPL 2021 and the batsmen haven’t got going. The latest match on the pitch between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings was a low-scoring game and the fans weren’t excited by the way the pitch has been prepared.
The due factor has also been a great issue for the bowlers while the dry ball has spun really well. It has been a very difficult pitch for the batsman as they could not play through the line like the Wankhede and is very tough for a new batsman to start hitting from ball one. It was the same case in Mumbai’s innings who kept losing wickets and ended up in a paltry score which Punjab chased down easily.
Brett Lee Explains The Difficulties Of The Pitch
Brett Lee was very critical of the way the Chennai pitch has behaved so far and termed it as very “shocking”. He explained that the pitch is very hard for the batsman to get into the rhythm needed to make big scores. He also brought out the difficulties of the bowlers who haven’t had any swing with the new ball. He credited KL Rahul for his heroic knock that took Punjab over the line comfortably.
“It’s a shocking cricket wicket, to be honest, it’s hard for the batsmen to get into any sort of rhythm,”
“It’s hard for the bowlers, doesn’t swing, so I don’t think it’s a good wicket. But you have to give credit to Rahul and his Punjab Kings,” said Brett Lee on Star Sports post the match.
Ben Stokes Reacts To Chennai Slow Turners
Ben Stokes took it to Twitter to describe his opinion on the Chennai Pitch and called it “trash” which is a little bit harsh on the surface. However, it has been yielding very low scores, and the teams’ aren’t sure of the decision after winning the toss. Mumbai has so far played five games in Chennai and won two of those while losing three games.
“Hope the wickets don’t get worse as the @IPL gets deeper into the tournament..160/170 minimum not scraping to 130/140 cause the wickets are trash.. “, Tweeted Ben Stokes

The fan will be hoping for some better wickets at Chennai which might produce some entertainment and fireworks.
