New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham has expressed his delight in joining the Mumbai Indians(MI) squad after being picked up for his base price of 50 lakh in the 2021 IPL auction. James Neesham played for the Kings XI Punjab in last year’s season’s IPL but managed only 19 runs in 5 games and picked up a couple of wickets at an economy rate of more than 9.5 which wasn’t enough for his franchise to retain him.
James Neesham made his debut in IPL 2014 for the Delhi Daredevils where he played just 4 games, scored 42 runs, and picked up a solitary wicket. Mumbai Indians have gone for the left-hander as the backup option for Kieron Pollard if he suffers any injury. The 30-year-old has played for Newzealand in 12 tests, 63 ODIs, and 24 T20is with two hundred overall in his international career.
James Neesham Delighted To Be Part Of Mumbai Indians
James Neesham expressed his delight to be part of the Mumbai Indians family and was happy to have found a buyer in the auction. He stated how much it means to him to be part of a successful franchise like Mumbai who has lifted the trophy five times and is looking to lift their third title consecutively.
“Just a quick message to the Mumbai family and fans. very happy to get picked up in the auction this year. Stoked to be coming back to the IPL. Stoked to be joining a team that has had so much success and such a great bunch of guys. So see you soon and looking forward to hopefully going back to back and winning another trophy,” James Neesham posted a video on Instagram on being part of a star-studded team
James Neesham In Good Form Recently
James Neesham looked in good touch in the recently concluded Dream 11 Super Smash tournament where his rampant Wellington team won the title. Neesham has always under the radar of the New Zealand selectors and he will be hoping to have a good IPL this year around to make a strong case for himself for the T20 World Cup in October.
James Neesham is currently part of the New Zealand T20 squad for the five-match series against Australia.
