After Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021, Sunil Gavaskar has slammed the team’s batting. Gavaskar said that Kolkata Knight Riders have no class in batting except for one or two players. Sunil Gavaskar also pointed out that KKR has a lot of issues in the batting order. The Eoin Morgan-led KKR lost to Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets after failing to score a big total while batting first.

Batting first, Shubman Gill played a slow knock with his 38-ball-43. Skipper Eoin Morgan was gone for a duck. Andre Russell smacked some big shots during his 45 off 27 balls to take KKR to 154-6 in 20 overs. KKR experimented with Sunil Narine, sending him at no.5 position.

However, the idea totally failed as Narine gone for a duck. Later, with Prithvi Shaw’s 82 and Shikhar Dhawan’s 46, Delhi Capitals managed an easy victory by 7 wickets in just 16.3 overs.

KKR Have No Class In Batting: Sunil Gavaskar

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was very disappointed with Kolkata Knight Riders’ batting in the match. He said that KKR’s batting has no class.

“If you have a look at their batting, apart from Shubman Gill, and Morgan himself, there is no class. Apart from Andre Rusell down at 5 or 6 and Dinesh Karthik I would look at promoting Karthik up the order or Rahul Tripathi up the order,” Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports.

Gavaskar also said that sending Sunil Narine lower down the order doesn’t make any sense. He also pointed out that KKR’s middle-order does not have any impactful batsman.

“Sunil Narine, at 4 or 5, is a waste of time, waste of space. It doesn’t make any sense having him there. If you want to have Narine, have him at the top of the order where can throw his bat around, and connect a few. KKR’s problem is that they haven’t got anybody in that 3, 4 or 5 who can play an impact innings. That is making a big difference in the side,” Sunil Gavaskar further said.

It was KKR’s 5th loss in IPL 2021. With 5 defeats and just 2 victories in 7 games, Kolkata Knight Riders hold the 5th spot in IPL 2021 points table. KKR’s batting has been a big concern for the team so far. KKR will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore in their next encounter of IPL 2021. The match will take place on May 3 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
