The wait for the fans to see their beloved MS Dhoni in action is going to end in less than a week’s time when the Chennai Super Kings take on the Mumbai Indians for the first encounter of the second half of the IPL 2021, which will be played in the UAE from September 19.

However, MS Dhoni’s form has been a concern for the last couple of years. Deepak Chahar, though, gave an exciting update from CSK’s practice match. The CSK players took part in a match simulation exercise where they were divided into two teams to get the feel of the event as the tournament nears.

Chahar stated that MS Dhoni, and other batters too, has been hitting long sixes in the practice and their bowlers have been put under pressure.

“Mahi bhai is hitting really long sixes. Not just Mahi bhai, but everyone is hitting big sixes. All the bowlers are under pressure,” Chahar said in a video uploaded by the franchise.

MS Dhoni’s form has been underwhelming since he left playing international cricket. In the last IPL season, he averaged 25.00 with the bat while striking at 116.28. In the first half of IPL 2021, which was played in India, he averaged a mere 12.33, batting at a strike rate of 123.33 – this, despite that CSK played their matches on the flat track at the Wankhede Stadium.

This is the best of what I have seen of MS Dhoni in three years: Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad, although, like Chahar, feels MS Dhoni has found his groove and is back at close to his best.

“I think Mahi bhai is batting really well. This is the best of what I have seen of him in three years,” said the young batter.

Gaikwad, who recently made his India debut in Sri Lanka, has been impressive over his 13 matches in the IPL so far having made his debut last season.

The 3-time champions are sitting at second place on the points table; they have won 5 matches out of 7 in the first half and almost all of their players have looked in good form.
