The table-topper Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are now getting ready to face the five-time IPL winners, including the last two-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) at Arun Jaitley Stadium (Delhi), which will be the 27th game of the IPL 2021.
It will be the seventh match for CSK in this IPL 2021. Though CSK started this season with a defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC), they then have managed five successive wins where they beat Punjab Kings (PBKS), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) respectively.
IPL 2021, Match 27: MI vs CSK – CSK Predicted Playing XI
While CSK team management has put strong faith in the youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad despite his struggle in the first three matches of this IPL 2021, the opener is now giving that proper value by consistently performing in the last three games, where he scored 64, 33 and 75 runs respectively.
Faf du Plessis
South African cricketer Faf du Plessis is one of the top performed batsmen in the first half of this IPL 2021 as he has scored 270 runs in six games of this tournament. In the last three matches, he has hit three consecutive half-centuries (95*, 50 and 56), while he scored 36* and 33 runs respectively in the previous two games after starting this season with a duck.
England cricketer Moeen Ali has performed strongly as an all-rounder in this IPL 2021. Apart from scoring 148 runs in five matches, Moeen has also taken 4 wickets in this IPL tournament. His scores in this tournament are 36, 46, 26, 25 and 15 runs respectively while he also had bowling figures of 3-0-7-3 against Rajasthan Royals.
The left-handed batsman Suresh Raina started this IPL 2021 with the knock of 54 runs. Then his scores in this tournament are 8, 18, 24 and 17* respectively. Though he recently got some limited opportunities with the bat, the third most IPL run-scorer is a very crucial member for CSK.
Ambati Rayudu is currently struggling in this IPL 2021 as he has scored 64 runs in four innings of this IPL 2021 where he has also get limited opportunities, especially in the recent matches. Rayudu was the second most run-scorer for CSK in the IPL 2020, so, there is no doubt about his importance in this team.
MS Dhoni (C & wk)
CSK captain MS Dhoni has scored just 37 runs in four innings of this IPL 2021, where his highest score is only 18 runs. While Dhoni has decided to not come to bat top of the order, which the experts feel can be a beneficial decision for the CSK, he has got very limited chances to perform strongly in this tournament yet.
Ravindra Jadeja is one of the best all-rounders in this IPL 2021 who single-handedly wrote the massive victory story for the CSK against the in-form side RCB. The CSK all-rounder has scored 109 runs in five innings of this tournament, while the left-arm spinner has also picked up five wickets. Moreover, he has taken 8 catches while he also made some crucial run-outs.
The right-arm pacer Deepak Chahar has already picked up two four-wicket hauls (4/13 & 4/29) as he provided incredible starts for the CSK in those two matches. But in the other four matches of this IPL 2021, Deepak failed to pick up any wicket, which makes his image a little disturbed.
South African pacer Lungi Ngidi has picked up 5 wickets in two games of this IPL 2021. Ngidi has started this IPL season in a strong way as he picked up three wickets in his first match of this season and then got two wickets in the last game.
The veteran South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir has played only one match in this IPL 2021 and it was the big game against RCB where he had bowling figures of 4-0-16-2. While Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi always has better records for the leg-spinners, Tahir can be considered for the upcoming match. Also, it is the match against one of the best IPL team ever, Mumbai Indians, where Tahir’s immense experience can be useful.
While Shardul Thakur is currently struggling, CSK can think about his little rest during the forthcoming match. The 27-year-old right-arm medium pacer KM Asif can replace him in the forthcoming match. While Asif hasn’t played a match yet in this IPL 2021, he has played only two IPL matches, both in 2018 for CSK, where he got a total of three wickets.
