The record five-time IPL champions and the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) registered their first victory in the IPL 2021 after beating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 10 runs at Chennai.

After KKR captain Eoin Morgan chose to bowl first, MI scored 152 runs before losing all wickets in 20 overs. In reply, KKR managed to score 142/7 (20 overs).

It was not only his first fifer in his T20 cricket career (previous best 4/11), but it was also the best T20 bowling figures for a bowler against Mumbai Indians. The previous best was 4-0-27-5 by Harshal Patel (Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chennai on 9th April 2021) which happened during MI’s previous match.

Incidentally, before this IPL 2021, there was no record of a five-wicket haul against MI in the T20 cricket.

It was the best bowling figures for Kolkata Knight Riders. Their previous record was 4-0-19-5 by Sunil Narine against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Kolkata on 15th April 2012.
