Though Rajasthan Royals (RR) lost their IPL 2021 opening match by just 4 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS), it was a majorly one-man show for the Rajasthan franchise as the IPL debutant captain Sanju Samson‘s century became the crucial reason why that game ended in thriller way.

Once again Rajasthan Royals are facing issue in their squad. While England cricketer Jofra Archer is currently unavailable, and there is no assurance of his presence in the IPL 2021, another England cricketer Ben Stokes has just been ruled out due to a broken finger injury which he got during their first game of this season.

While Sanju Samson scored 119 runs off 63 balls with the help of 12 fours and 7 sixes, Jos Buttler (25 runs off 13 balls), Shivam Dube (23 runs off 15 balls) and Riyan Parag (25 runs off 11 balls) only managed to play some crucial cameos for the team. Even a little more support from the other batsmen would help Rajasthan Royals to win that match.

Earlier, most of their bowlers struggled against the PBKS batting line-up. While the left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya made his IPL debut in a brilliant way as his bowling figures were 4-0-31-3. The most expensive player in the IPL Auction history, South African cricketer Chris Morris also got two wickets but he was also expensive as his bowling figures were 4-0-41-2.

The IPL 2020 runners-up Delhi Capitals (DC) have made a strong start under their new captain Rishabh Pant, who has been named for the leadership role after the regular captain Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out from this entire IPL season due to his shoulder injury. In their first match, Delhi Capitals beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven wickets after comfortably chasing the 189 runs target in 18.4 overs.

Both the new-ball pacers Chris Woakes and Avesh Khan bowled really well as they provided strong starts and also finished that innings in strong ways. While the English cricketer Woakes had bowling figures of 3-0-18-2, Avesh finished with bowling figures of 4-0-23-2.

Ravichandran Ashwin (1/47) and England cricketer Tom Curran (1/40) got one wicket each in that match but they were ended with expensive bowling figures.

Chasing down the 189 runs target, openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan set up a great start with 138 runs partnership for the opening wicket. While Shaw scored 72 off just 38 balls (9 fours and 3 sixes), Dhawan scored 85 off 54 balls (10 fours and 2 sixes) as the next players only had to finish that game and they did that comfortably.

Meanwhile, South African cricketers Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada may miss this upcoming match.

Delhi Capitals are the stronger and more confident side in front of the Rajasthan Royals. Moreover, Delhi Capitals won all their last five matches against Rajasthan Royals.

So, Delhi Capitals will begin this upcoming match as the favourite side. However, Rajasthan Royals have a great chance to end their losing streak against this franchise as this is only the beginning moment of the IPL 2021.
