IPL 2021: Mayank Agarwal Hopes KL Rahul Does Not Miss Rest Of The Tournament After Surgery 

Mayank Agarwal has opened up about KL Rahul’s return to IPL 2021. Agarwal hopes that KL Rahul does not miss the rest of IPL 2021. Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul was ruled out of the IPL 2021 match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday due to surgery. KL Rahul complained of severe abdominal pain ahead of the match. He was later shifted to the hospital where he underwent surgery for acute appendicitis.

Mayank Agarwal became the stand-in skipper for Punjab Kings against Delhi Capitals. Agarwal did a great job with the bat smashing 99 runs off 58 balls. He smashed 4 sixes and 8 fours during his stupendous knock.

However, since he did not get support from any other batsman he could only manage to take Punjab Kings to 166-6 batting first. Later, Shikhar Dhawan smashed unbeaten 69 runs to win the match for Punjab Kings by 7 wickets.

Hopefully Not For the Rest Of The Tournament: Mayank Agarwal

After the match, Mayank Agarwal had a chat with Delhi Capitals’ bowler Kagiso Rabada. During the conversation, Agarwal spoke about KL Rahul’s return to IPL 2021.

“Hopefully not. Hopefully not for the rest of the tournament. But you will definitely miss a guy like him. To be very honest I am grateful that we have a chance and opportunity to come here and play. Especially the current situation that our world and country is in. I am just extremely grateful,” Mayank Agarwal said when Rabada asked him if KL Rahul will miss the rest of IPL 2021.

KL Rahul’s exclusion is a big blow to Punjab Kings. KL Rahul is the 2nd leading run-scorer in IPL 2021 after Shikhar Dhawan. Rahul has scored 331 runs in 7 innings. He has also hit 4 half-centuries in IPL 2021 so far. Since KL Rahul has left the bio-bubble, he will need to go under quarantine for one week before returning back to play.

Punjab Kings lost to Delhi Capitals earlier too. After the loss against Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings have moved to the 6th spot in IPL 2021 points table. They have 6 points after winning 3 matches out of 8. Punjab Kings will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore. The match will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 6.
