Wicket Keepers have a big role to play in the modern game and especially, they can change the course of the game in a big tournament like IPL which we have seen in the past. Rishabh Pant, the current Indian wicketkeeper has improved his wicket-keeping technique and it has reflected in his batting which has improved vastly.

Wicket Keepers as captain provide an added advantage as they take notice of the batsman’s strength and weakness and set the field according to it. They play a lot of mind games too and they also have to be aware they take every chance that comes their way to survive for a long duration.

Wriddhiman Saha has lost his place to Rishabh Pant in the Indian test team and he will have to wait in the wings until Indian management decides to give him an opportunity. However, he will be part of the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad this year and a good season at the top of the order could put some pressure on the spot for Rishabh Pant.

Saha has been part of various IPL franchises in the past and in 124 IPL games, Saha has effected 56 catches and 20 stumpings with 76 dismissals in total. SRH will be hoping for him to come good at the top again which could add an overseas option in the middle order.

Parthiv Patel:

Parthiv Patel made his debut for India at a very early age and he retired from all forms of the game last year. Parthiv Patel has been part of various IPL franchises in the past and has represented India in all formats of the game. He was part of the RCB franchise in the last IPL but did not play any match.

He has played 139 IPL games so far taking 65 catches and effecting 16 stumpings to take his tally to 81 dismissals. He is a good batsman at the top of the order and is fourth on the list of most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in IPL history.

Robin Uthappa:

Robin Uthappa is not usually a full-time wicketkeeper but he can do the job and he has shown it in the past for various IPL franchises. He has also represented various IPL teams over the years and was part of the 2007 T20 WorldCup squad that won the trophy.

Uthappa has played 189 IPL games so far and has effected 58 catches and 32 stumpings with 90 dismissals to his name. He was traded from the Rajasthan Royals to the Chennai Super Kings ahead of this year’s auction but is not expected to take the wicket-keeping duties. He is third on the list of most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in IPL history.

Dinesh Karthik has been in and out of the Indian side, but he has been an IPL star over the years for whichever franchise he has played. Dinesh Karthik made an early debut for India and he could still make his way into the Indian T20 side with a good performance as he can play the finisher role to perfection.

Dinesh Karthik has played 196 IPL games in which he has taken 110 catches and effected 10 stumpings taking his tally to 140 dismissals. He handed over the captaincy reins to Eoin Morgan last year to concentrate on his batting and he is second on the list of most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in IPL history.

The legendary Indian wicketkeeper who is one of the greatest Indian players in ODIs of all-time tops the list of most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in IPL history. MS Dhoni has been part of the CSK franchise ever since the inaugural edition except for the two years he played for Rising Pune Supergiants when CSK was banned.

He has one of the quickest hands in the business and has taken 109 catches along with 39 stumpings and has effected 148 dismissals totally in 204 games. He has retired from international cricket but will be playing for the Chennai Super Kings this year which could be his last.
