The seniors and old players have a big role to play in any team and especially in the IPL where their experience will come in handy in pressure situations. There have been franchises that rely on the senior and old players a lot and the best example of it will be the Chennai Super Kings franchise.

CSK’s average age is much higher than the other franchise but also it leads to the fact they will have a lot more experience and maturity more than the other franchises. It is time to look at the oldest players of all the eight franchises in IPL 2021.

Oldest Player Of All The 8 Teams:

Sunrisers Hyderabad – Wriddhiman Saha

The Indian test wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha is the oldest player in the Sunrisers Hyderabad team and he is 36- years old now. He had an excellent run of form in the last IPL over the backend of the tournament and provided the much-needed impetus at the top of the order which helped SRH move into the playoffs spot.

Sunrisers will be hoping that he is in good form which will open up an overseas spot as well as the team balance becomes right.

Royal Challengers Bangalore – Daniel Christian

The veteran all-rounder Daniel Christian from Australia is still playing for top teams in the global T20 tournaments and the 37-year-old is the oldest player in the RCB squad this year. He has finished off games well coming in the middle over and has a lot of variations up his sleeve which could be useful in slow tracks.

He was bought for a price of 4.8 crores in the auction and he did not have much impact in the season opener against Mumbai Indians.

Rajasthan Royals – Andrew Tye

The Australian fast bowler, Andrew Tye is not getting any younger but has added pace into his bowling which has made him much lethal than before. Tye was the purple cap holder in IPL 2018 and he has the ability to pick up wickets consistently.

He can hit the 140kmph mark now and he is expected to play a much bigger role for the Royals as Archer is set to miss the first few games. He is 34 years old and is the oldest player in the Rajasthan squad.

Punjab Kings – Chris Gayle

He is a natural big hitter and holds most of the records in T20 cricket. He can demolish any bowling lineup and had an excellent season in IPL 2020.

Mumbai Indians – Rohit Sharma

Surprisingly, the oldest player in the Mumbai Indians squad is the captain of the franchise, Rohit Sharma. The 33-year-old has been the most successful captain in the IPL history with five IPL titles. His individual records in IPL have been decent but are nowhere near to the international standards he has set. But he is an impact player and can change the game around quickly when he is in good touch.

Kolkata Knight Riders – Harbhajan Singh
