Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has said that Punjab Kings are in a tough situation in IPL 2021 currently and the team needs to defeat teams placed above it in the points table to get back in the race. Ajay Jadeja’s words came after Kings lost to Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets in IPL 2021 encounter on Sunday.

In the match against Delhi Capitals, Kings scored 166-6 batting first. Mayank Agarwal smashed an unbeaten 99 runs in the match. However, his innings wasn’t enough to save Punjab Kings from defeat.

Later, Shikhar Dhawan scored unbeaten 69 runs while Prithvi Shaw helped with his 39 runs for Delhi Capitals. The Rishabh Pant-led side comfortably chased the target in just 17.4 overs and won the match by 7 wickets.

Punjab Kings Are In A Tough Situation: Ajay Jadeja

Ajay Jadeja feels that Punjab Kings are in a tough situation currently as they are lagging behind in the points table.

“Punjab are in a tough situation. They are lagging behind on the points table. They are just two positions down from the top four. But I have seen the table getting shuffled drastically. Because the bottom-placed teams are also left with their games. While Punjab are yet to face four out top five sides. So, once they start defeating the teams placed above them, they will be back in the race,” Ajay Jadeja said.

Jadeja also said that for Punjab Kings, the knockouts have already begun and they need to win all of their upcoming matches to enter the playoffs.

“Ultimately, the knockouts have almost begun for them. They are slated to face seven teams now and defeating all seven teams on the trot will not be an easy task. It’s not impossible but winning seven out of seven is not easy,” said Ajay Jadeja.

After the loss against Delhi Capitals, Kings have dropped to the 6th spot in IPL 2021 points table. Punjab Kings have 6 points after managing just 3 victories in 8 games.

The team has also lost skipper KL Rahul, who was ousted from the previous match due to surgery. Punjab Kings mentioned that KL Rahul will be back in action in a week to 10 days. Kings will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 6.
