Ravindra Jadeja has bagged the spotlight in IPL 2021 with his fabulous batting, bowling, and fielding for Chennai Super Kings so far. However, Scott Styris feels that Suresh Raina has also been a key contributor for CSK in IPL 2021. Styris also said that Raina has perfectly handled batting in the middle-overs, something which Chennai Super Kings suffered a lot during the last IPL.

Suresh Raina opted out of IPL 2020 due to personal reasons. However, he made a comeback in IPL 2021. So far, Suresh Raina and scored 121 runs in 5 innings at an average of 30. He has also hit 1 half-century. He is also a part-time spinner but has not bowled in IPL 2021 yet.

Suresh Raina Always Sets The Tone For CSK: Scott Syris

While speaking to Star Sports, Scott Styris praised Suresh Raina and called him a key contributor for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021.

“Fielding-wise, all the focus has been on Jadeja, but Suresh Raina is the one who always sets the tone. So he’s always been a key contributor too. I like the move of CSK to drop him down to 4. That’s why Moeen Ali’s inclusion is a fit and good one given his struggles against short balls and the quick balls. So if he drops down one spot, he can sit there and make No. 4 his own,” Scott Styris said.

Styris also said that Suresh Raina is very effective with the bat in the middle overs, which has helped CSK a lot in IPL 2021 so far.

“He is so good against spinners I think he can make those middle overs – five to 15 before he starts having some fun – I think he can own those. And if you look at last year, that’s where CSK struggled, their slowness through the middle, their ability to rotate the strike and find boundaries against spinners. Raina does that perfectly,” Scott Styris further said.
