Former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris has said that Punjab Kings player Shahrukh Khan can aspire to become a reliable finisher like Hardik Pandya in the future. However, Styris also said that we should just let him play and develop at his own speed. Shahrukh Khan was bought by Punjab Kings for a whopping Rs. 5.25 crore during IPL 2021 auction.

Shahrukh Khan has not managed to hit a big knock in IPL 2021 so far but in few matches, he piled up many runs for Punjab Kings in the death overs. So far, Shahrukh Khan has scored 103 runs in 5 innings at an average of 34 while batting at lower middle-order. In one match, he went close to his half-century with a knock of 47 runs.

However, he has a good strike rate of over 135. With 6 sixes, he has also shown that he has the ability to clear the ropes.

Shahrukh Khan Can Aspire To Be Like Hardik Pandya: Scott Styris

Scott Styris spoke about Shahrukh Khan, who is playing his debut IPL season. Styris said that he does not want to compare Khan with Kieron Pollard. He asserted that Shahrukh Khan can aspire to become like Hardik Pandya.

“I don’t want to compare anyone with Kieron Pollard, he’s 6 foot 5, he’s huge. Shahrukh Khan is a big guy as well. Maybe he can look to aspire to be like Hardik Pandya. I’ve seen a lot of Shahrukh Khan because of my commentary days with the Tamil Nadu Premier League and he was a powerful striker of the ball in that league,” Scott Styris said.

Styris also said that Shahrukh Khan should be allowed to develop at his own speed and we should not put a lot of pressure on his shoulders.

“I think that’s a lot of pressure to put on his shoulders. I would want to back up that truck a little bit and say no. Just let him play and develop! People develop at different speeds as well. He might take two-three-four seasons to get to a point where he is a reliable finisher,” Scott Styris further said.

They hold the 6th spot in IPL 2021 points table with 4 points. Punjab Kings will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 30 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
