IPL 2021: Shikhar Dhawan Looking Like A Million Bucks, Sunil Gavaskar Praises Delhi Capitals Batsman For Leading Team To Victory Against Punjab Kings  

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar heaped praises on Shikhar Dhawan for another match-winning knock for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021. Gavaskar also praised Shikhar Dhawan for the way he is playing shots in IPL 2021. Dhawan smashed an unbeaten 69 runs off 47 balls to grab victory for Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets in the match against Punjab Kings.

Batting first, the KL Rahul-less Punjab Kings scored 166-6 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Skipper Mayank Agarwal was the lone batting hero for Punjab Kings, with his unbeaten 99 runs off 58 balls.

However, Agarwal’s efforts went in vain as Delhi Capitals comfortably chased down the target in just 17.4 overs. Firstly, Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan gave a nice start to the batting. Later, Dhawan managed to remain on the crease till getting the victory runs for Delhi Capitals. Dhawan smashed 2 sixes and 6 boundaries during his unbeaten 69-run knock.

Shikhar Dhawan Looking Like A Million Bucks: Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar was very impressed by Shikhar Dhawan’s batting in the match. During a conversation on Star Sports, he said that Dhawan has been in tremendous form right from the start and carrying his form.

“He has been in a tremendous form right from the start of the season. He is carrying his form and he is not taking it easy at all. Sometimes, batsmen tend to take the good form for granted, get into bad habits. But he hasn’t got into any,” said Sunil Gavaskar.

Gavaskar also said that Shikhar Dhawan’s shots are paying him and he is looking like a million bucks.

“Look at some of his shots. These are the shot which has always got runs. He hasn’t tried to do anything different. These are the shots that he plays in all forms of the games, in the longer formats as well. And they are paying for him and he is looking like a million bucks,” he added.

With his half-century against Punjab Kings, Shikhar Dhawan also earned the orange cap. He is the leading run-scorer in IPL 2021 currently, with 380 runs in 8 innings. He has also hit 3 half-centuries in the tournament so far. After the victory against Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals moved to the top spot in IPL 2021 points table with 6 victories in 8 matches. On the other hand, Punjab Kings hold the 6th spot with 3 wins in 8 games.
