IPL 2022 Mega Auction: 3 Big Players SRH Might Release. Despite the hurdles and challenges the COVID-19 pandemic posed before the world, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ensures the IPL 2021 was completed without much hindrance.

The tournament had to be halted in May owing to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in India and subsequently had to be moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings won the IPL 2021 after a thumping win against Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs in the final on October 15.

For many of the players, IPL 2021 could be the last time they might have played for the respective franchises.

As it is said ‘ The Show Must Go On’, and so like the Indian Premier League, one of the richest leagues in the sporting world, is set to once again expand the tournament with two new teams.

BCCI had floated an Invitation to Tender (ITT) inviting bids for owning two new teams to be inducted in IPL. Interested parties could buy the tender for a non-refundable 110 lakh plus taxes till October 5.

Hence IPL 2022 will see most of the players go under the auctions table as BCCI has planned a mega auction where each team will be able to retain a maximum of three players.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are the champions of IPL 2016 but this year they had to endure their worst season since they entered the tournament in 2013.

The Orange Army is the side that has the best overseas talent at its disposal. And the team has also witnessed some of the prodigious talents like Umran Malik and T Natarajan in the past few years.

So the SRH team management and owners will definitely have a tough time write-off some of the players from their squad ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.

3 Big Players SRH Might Release

Let us look at three big players SRH might release ahead of the IPL 2022 auctions.

1) David Warner

Yes, it is going to be difficult for an avid follower of the Orange Army to bid adieu to the craftsman of the franchise, who gave his every ounce of emotions and skills to make then what they are.

Things didn’t seem to go well between the Australian player and his franchise in the final games of the league stage of IPL 2021 as Warner was dropped from the team and was seen cheering for them from the stands.

Warner, who led SRH to their maiden title in 2016, was replaced with New Zealand’s Kane Williamson as the team’s captain in the middle of the tournament.

Although the Australian batsman wants to continue with SRH but he is very uncertain about his future with the franchise.

Warner is Sunrisers Hyderabad’s highest run-scorer with 4014 runs from 95 matches and has scored 40 fifties and a couple of centuries for the franchise in seven IPL editions.

2) Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one of the best bowlers who used to give the team early breakthroughs and turned the game in the death overs.

Bhuvneshwar, who is also SRH’s vice-captain, has won the Purple Cap twice in IPL in 2016 and 2017.

The 31-year-old bowler’s form dipped in IPL 2021 and didn’t get enough wickets, having picked just six wickets from 11 games.

The team management might consider going with young sensational bowler Umran Malik instead of their experienced bowler.

With 118 wickets from 101 games, Bhuvneshwar is currently the leading wicket-taker for SRH in IPL.

3) Jonny Bairstow

The England batter made his first appearance for the Orange Army in IPL 2019 where he formed a destructive opening pair with Warner at the top.

Bairstow scored 445 runs from 10 innings at the strike rate of 157.24 and cemented his spot in the team for the upcoming seasons.

This season also Bairstow performed up to his potential amassing 248 runs in the first leg in India. But the England player made himself unavailable for the second leg.

Given that SRH might continue the services of skipper Kane Williamson or leg-spinner Rashid Khan, it will be tough for Bairstow to push his case with SRH further.
