Shreyas Iyer is the skipper of Delhi Capitals who has been leading the side since 2018 mid-season. When Delhi Capitals observed a poor show in IPL 2018 under new skipper Gautam Gambhir, Shreyas Iyer took the captainship role midway after Gambhir decided to step down as captain. In the next edition in IPL 2019, the team reached the final under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer and finished as runners-up.

This shows the effort the right-handed batsman has put in leading the team. The 26-year-old has also shown a consistent batting performance for the franchise in the last three seasons, scoring 411 runs, 463 runs, and 519 runs in IPL 2018, 2019, and 2020 respectively.

Due to an elbow injury, Iyer did not take part in the first half of IPL 2021 but he will definitely show up in the second leg in September. The franchise will not let the skipper go out of the squad during IPL 2022 mega auction.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant is the second player that Delhi Capitals might retain during IPL 2021 mega auctions. Since 2018, the wicketkeeper-batsman has emerged as a powerful batter in IPL as well as the national side. The left-handed batsman has a hard-hitting style of batting, which makes him a perfect finisher and mighty lower-order batsman for Delhi Capitals.

Moreover, since the start of this year, Pant has emerged as a powerful batsman in the national team with some big knocks which has also made him the primary choice for wicketkeeper for the Indian team.

In IPL 2021, the 23-year-old cricketer scored 213 runs in 8 innings at an average of 35.50 and 2 half-centuries.  For Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant will also be an excellent choice for wicketkeeper so the franchise might retain him in IPL 2022 mega auction.
