Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will aim to make a comeback in IPL 2024 after failing to reach playoffs last season. The Shreyas Iyer-led side finished in the 7th spot in the points table. The IPL 2024 auction is scheduled to take place on December 19 in Dubai.
Kolkata Knight Riders have some strong players in their squad like Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell among others. However, after failing to reach playoffs last season, the franchise will look to induct some strong players into their squad during the IPL 2024 auction.
As a result, some players might be released from the squad. Ahead of IPL 2024, here we talk about 3 players Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) can release ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.
IPL 2024: 3 Players Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Can Release Ahead Of IPL Auction
3. Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav is the first player who might be released by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. The right-arm pacer gave a horrible performance last season. He played 8 games and picked just 1 wicket.
He held an economy of 9.94 and completely failed to clinch wickets for the team. After his poor show, KKR will look for other strong pacers during the auction. Hence, Umesh Yadav might be released from the squad.
2. Tim Southee
Tim Southee is another pacer who struggled to perform in IPL 2023. The New Zealand pacer played 2 matches and picked 2 wickets. Since he emerged too costly at his economy of 13+, the team dropped him from the team midway through the tournament.
Southee is highly likely to be released from the squad so that the franchise can pick some other lethal pacers during the IPL 2024 auction.

1. David Wiese
Kolkata Knight Riders picked David Wiese as an all-rounder during last year’s auction. The Namibia player also played 3 matches during the last season. However, David Wiese failed to come up with a good show.
He scored 21 runs across his 2 innings. With the ball, he failed to get any wicket across 3 matches and held an economy rate of 12+ while bowling. Hence, he might be released by the franchise ahead of the next season.
