IPL 2024: 3 Players That Rajasthan Royals Can Use As An Impact Player In The Tournament

Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a silent Auction this time as they did not spend much amount in buying players. They were the team with the second-least auction spent in this season’s auction with a spent of just 14.30 crores.

Rajasthan Royals made retentions worth 85.50 crores for the upcoming IPL season with most of the players retained for the franchise. They did not complete the 25 members of the squad and ended up with just 22 members in the squad making them the most short-staffed team of IPL this season.

They started the auction proceedings by buying West Indies captain Rovman Powell for 7.40 crores. They also bought South African left-arm pacer Nandre Burger for 50 lacs and spent 5.80 crores on an uncapped Shubham Dubey. RR did not have the best of auctions as they failed to pick up a 25-member squad and the acquisitions made by them are not extraordinary in terms of form and experience.

RR finished fifth on the IPL points table last season winning seven out of 14 matches. They failed to qualify for the playoffs by just two points. Rajasthan Royals were the finalists of the 2022 IPL where they were defeated by Gujarat Titans for the title. The Jaipur-based franchise would hope to win their second IPL title with the first one coming in the inaugural season in 2008.

RR don’t have a lot of players but they have a variety of players to pick from and they can build a perfect team from the 22-member squad. The impact player rule will be helpful for Rajasthan Royals as it allows teams to make one on-field substitution during any of the natural breaks of the match. It will be interesting to see the players that can be used as impact players for RR in the upcoming IPL 2024.

Here Are Three Players That RR Can Use As An Impact Player In The IPL:

1. Shubham Dubey:

An uncapped player from Vidarbha who has a terrific hitting ability while batting down the order, Shubham Dubey can be RR’s first pick as an impact player. Shubham Dubey has played 20 matches in the T20 format and has scored 485 runs at an average of 37.30. He has hit 30 sixes in 19 innings he has played in this format and 26 boundaries. His six-hitting capability was the main feature that made RR bid for him. He can be a good impact player for the team.

2. Avesh Khan:

Avesh Khan has been traded to Rajasthan Royals from Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the auctions. He is another option that RR can use as an impact player given that he can’t contribute much with the bat. By using him as an impact player, RR can play an extra batter in the XI if they get to bat first in a match and then introduce Avesh Khan as the impact player when the team is bowling.

3. Dhruv Jurel:

Dhruv Jurel was another trade for the Jaipur-based franchise from Delhi Capitals. He is a wicket-keeper batter and Rajasthan Royals already have the likes of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson as two wicket-keeping options. Therefore, Dhruv Jurel can be used as an impact substitute by RR. He has an enormous strike rate of 172.73 in the IPL and can hit the ball well, batting down the order.
