IPL 2024: 3 Players That SRH Can Use As An Impact Player In The Tournament

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) made headlines after they broke the 20 crore barrier for the first time in the IPL auctions. They bought Australian skipper Pat Cummins for a massive 20.50 crores in the auctions after winning a long bidding war against Royal Challengers Bangalore. SRH has gathered a strong squad for the IPL 2024 and they are aiming for their second title in the competition’s history. They have previously won the title in 2016.

SRH have a squad with a lot of overseas powerhouses. They have the likes of Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klassen, Pat Cummins, and Travis Head. They bought Travis Head for just 6.80 crores which was quite a bargain buy for them given that Head was the Player of The Match in the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023. They also bought Wanindu Hasaranga for just 1.50 crores. Sunrisers Hyderabad has a very strong line-up this year and they look like a team that other teams will fear.

The Hyderabad-based franchise had a worst season during the IPL 2023 finishing last among ten teams in the competition. They managed to win only four games out of fourteen in the last season and were disqualified early out of the tournament. SRH this year is looking like a formidable team on paper and they can be one of the title contenders this season with the strong line-up they have.

1. T Natarajan:

T Natarajan is someone who was frequently used as an impact player by SRH in the IPL 2023. He is a Yorker specialist and is extremely good in the death overs. However, Natarajan can’t contribute with the bat so SRH may strategies to announce a playing XI without him and then introduce him as an impact substitute during their bowling. T Natarajan took 10 wickets in 12 matches in IPL 2023. However, his average of 41 was a bit of a concern for the franchise.

2. Abdul Samad:

The hard-hitting batter from Kashmir is also a viable option for SRH to use as an impact player as he bats down the order and can hit the ball well. He cannot contribute with the ball much so if Sunrisers Hyderabad is batting second in a match, he can be introduced as an impact substitute in the squad. He has a strike rate of 143.37 in all T20s.

3. Shahbaz Ahmed:

Shahbaz Ahmed was traded by SRH from RCB ahead of the auctions. He is an all-rounder from Haryana and we have seen that franchises refrain from using all-rounders as impact players.

However, Shahbaz Ahmed can be a good option for SRH to use as an impact player given that the team already has all-rounders like Washington Sundar, Abhishek Sharma, and Wanindu Hasaranga. Shahbaz Ahmed can be used as an impact player according to the conditions and a conditional impact player can help a lot in making the best use of the conditions.
