The IPL 2024 auction is set to take place on December 19 in Dubai. The event will witness 10 teams engaging in nail-biting bidding wars to grab their favorite players. The competition is not only limited to IPL franchises. Players also compete to grab scarce spots left across all teams. There are just 77 available slots but 333 players are part of the auction.

There are 214 domestic players and 119 overseas players in the auction. Out of 333 players, many young players are part of IPL 2024 auction. However, some older players will also go under the hammer. 5. Mohammad Nabi

Mohammad Nabi is the first player on this list. The Afghan all-rounder is currently 38 years old. He has kept a base price of Rs. 1.50 crores in the IPL 2024 auction. Nabi had many successful seasons in the Indian Premier League with his former team Sunrisers Hyderabad.

From IPL 2017 to 2021, the right-handed batter played 17 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He grabbed 13 wickets at a superb economy of 7.14. He also scored 180 runs at a strike rate of 151+. Last month, he was part of the Afghanistan team that tasted a lot of success in the ICC World Cup 2023.

4. Dwaine Pretorius

Dwaine Pretorius is another veteran player in the IPL 2024 auction who can grab a massive bid. The South African all-rounder was part of Chennai Super Kings last season who won the trophy. Later, he ended his partnership with the team to participate in the auction.

2. Steve Smith

Steve Smith returns to IPL after missing the previous season. Smith was part of Delhi Capitals in his last appearance in the 2022 edition. The Aussie star is among the oldest players in IPL 2024 auction at 34 years. He has a base price of Rs. 2 crore.

Smith was part of the Australian team that won the ICC World Cup 2023. Recently, he played as an opener in T20I games against India. Moreover, he is also an opener for Sydney Sixers in the ongoing Big Bash League 2023. The right-handed batter has proved that he can make it big even in the shortest format. Hence, some IPL teams are expected to target him during the IPL 2024 auction.

1. Keshav Maharaj

33-year-old Keshav Maharaj is a slightly older player who is part of IPL 2024 auction. The left-arm spinner is a regular member of the South African national team across all three formats. He also played in ICC World Cup 2023, where he helped the team to snatch a thrilling victory in a match against Pakistan.

Maharaj has not played any IPL seasons so far and has a base price of Rs. 50 lakh in the Indian Premier League 2024 auction. With South Africa’s brilliant performance in the World Cup, he has gained some limelight and can attract bidders during the auction.
