Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will aim for consecutive trophies in IPL 2024 next year. However, ahead of the tournament, CSK needs to participate in the IPL 2024 auction to grab some strong players.

The IPL 2024 auction is all set to take place on Tuesday, December 19 in Dubai. Chennai Super Kings has retained 19 players in their squad ahead of the auction. The men-in-yellow released 8 players from their squad ahead of the mini-auction.

Some key players who are not part of CSK anymore are Ambati Rayudu, Ben Stokes, Dwaine Pretorius, and Kyle Jamieson. However, Rayudu has retired from all forms of cricket. Stokes made himself unavailable for the 2024 season. Pretorius opted to part ways with MS Dhoni & Co. to participate in the auction.

CSK did not execute any trade with any other franchise. After the Indian Premier League 2024 retentions, the five-time champions have 6 available spots in their squad. Chennai Super Kings have Rs. 31.40 crore funds available. To retain 19 players, the IPL 2023 champions have spent Rs. 68.60 crores out of the total budget of 90 crores.

Since CSK has retained MS Dhoni in their squad, it is evident that he will play one more season. MS Dhoni has led the team since the debut season and the franchise has won 5 trophies.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Available Salary Cap For IPL 2024 Auction

Out of Rs. 100 crore, CSK has spent Rs. 68.60 crore to retain 19 players in their squad. They have Rs. 31.40 crore available for the auction. After Gujarat Titans (38.15 cr), Sunrisers Hyderabad (34 cr),  and Kolkata Knight Riders (32.70 cr), CSK has the maximum funds.

Notably, each team will get Rs. 5 crore more as total salary caps are increased by Rs. 5 crore every year. CSK can pick 6 more players in their squad, out of which, only 3 can be overseas players.
