Kolkata Knight Riders will pick the most number of players during the IPL 2024 auction as they have the maximum vacant spots than any other team. After releasing 12 players from their squad, KKR can grab 12 more players during IPL 2024 auction.

After a poor season last season where they ended in the 8th spot in the points table, Kolkata Knight Riders will aim for a comeback with the return of skipper Shreyas Iyer. Nitish Rana led the side last season due to Shreyas Iyer’s absence, as the latter underwent a surgery and recovery process.

Notably, the two-time IPL champions released the most number of 12 players from their squad ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 auction. KKR dropped their almost entire pace department with the likes of Shardul Thakur, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, and Lockie Ferguson.

However, the IPL 2024 champions also retained 13 players in their squad. Their core members like Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, and Varun Chakravarthy were part of the retention list.

Interestingly, Kolkata Knight Riders have also nominated Gautam Gambhir as the mentor of the franchise for IPL 2024. Gambhir led the team to two trophies in IPL 2012 and IPL 2014. KKR has Rs. 32.70 crore left for the auction. It’s the maximum funds after Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Kolkata Knight Riders have spent Rs. 67.30 crore to retain 13 players in their squad. Hence, the two-time champions have Rs. 32.70 crore left for the IPL 2024 auction. They have the most funds after Gujarat Titans (38+ cr) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (34 cr). KKR can grab 12 more players into their squad; more than any other team. They can only pick 4 overseas players out of 12.
