Liam Livingstone has hit back at a fan after the latter asked the England star to focus on cricket. It all started when the England batsman took to X to vent his frustration over an incident that took place during the football game between Liverpool and Newcastle United.
The right-handed batsman expressed his disappointment over the penalty being awarded to Liverpool towards the end of the game. Liverpool forward Diogo was sent clean through on goal and rounded Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
The Liverpool star appeared poised to hit the ball into the empty net but decided to go down after minimal contact from the goalkeeper. Liverpool went on to score and sealed the game 4-2. Liam Livingstone, however, was not at all impressed by the call and expressed his disappointment over the same.
“Football is so finished ??? how can you have VAR and still award that as a penalty! It’s actually boring ?,” he wrote.
One of his followers then asked him to ‘think about cricket’, reminding him about his IPL team Punjab Kings’ title drought as he wrote: “Think about cricket bro. In IPL Punjab need there first title.”
Liam Livingstone noticed the reply from his followers and decided to react to it, writing: “It’s January.”
