Mumbai Indians (MI) will witness a new era from IPL 2024 under new skipper Hardik Pandya. The franchise has replaced Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya for the role of skipper. Notably, MI grabbed Pandya from Gujarat Titans through a trade.
The franchise has already witnessed a lot of action ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. MI has set up a strong team. However, they will aim to grab a few more powerful players during the IPL 2024 auction.
Mumbai Indians, who is the joint-most IPL winners with CSK with 5 trophies, has Rs. 17. 75 crore available for the auction. They fall in the category of lowest funds after Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals. Hence, MI might find it hard to go after the top players with their low budget.

MI also traded Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore for an all-cash deal. Green was their most expensive pick in the last auction. However, they had to part ways with the Aussie all-rounder to have enough funds to grab Hardik Pandya.
The IPL 2020 champions have retained 15 players in their squad ahead of IPL 2024 auction. Rohit Sharma, Dewald Brevis, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tim David are some of the big names that MI have retained.
MI released 11 players from their pool. Jofra Archer, Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, and Chris Jordan are some of the names who will not be part of Mumbai Indians next season. Despite their low budget, MI is short of 8 players in their squad with 4 overseas slots.

MI has nominated Hardik Pandya as the new skipper of the team for IPL 2024. Hence, Rohit Sharma will not lead the side next season. Suryakumar Yadav was the vice-captain of the team last season and is expected to play the same role in the next season too.
Mumbai Indians (MI) Available Salary Cap For IPL 2024 Auction
After all the trades and retentions, Mumbai Indians now have 17 players in their squad. They have utilized Rs. 82.25 crore to retain these players. Hence, they have Rs. 17.75 crore available for IPL 2024 auction.
This is the least amount of funds after Lucknow Super Giants (13+ cr) and Rajasthan Royals (14+ cr). Interestingly, MI has 8 vacant spots in their squad, out of which, there are 4 places for overseas players.
