The Indian Premier League has played a different role in the career of KL Rahul as the Indian batter has played many memorable innings while playing in the cash-rich league. Rahul who used to play for Punjab Kings until IPL 2021, switched sides to the newly added Lucknow Super Giants and began to lead the side. Rahul slammed a ton in his debut season for LSG and has been among the top scorers of the team.

Former Australian cricketer and head coach Justin Langer has been asked to coach the side for the next season of the Indian Premier League. In a video uploaded by LSG on their official ‘X’ handle, Langer praised Rahul and said that it is a ‘blessing’ to have KL Rahul as the team’s skipper.

Justin Langer also remembered the days when he was the head coach of the Australian cricket team and stated that there were two players the team was scared of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. The team never relaxed until they got both players out. Langer also considered KL Rahul as a beautiful elegant looking player.

Justin Langer heaps praise on KL Rahul

Speaking to Lucknow Super Giants, Justin Langer said, “I am going to go one step further. What a player, I used to know when I was coaching Australia vs India, there’s two players I never relaxed until we got Virat  out and until we got KL Rahul out because he is so dangerous and he is such a beautiful elegant looking player. He has got good experience, he can play to both sides of the ground, he plays spin well, he plays quick bowling well. You know I feel really grateful, I feel really blessed and we should all feel in Lucknow, blessed to have a captain like KL Rahul.”

KL Rahul is currently part of the Indian cricket team for the Test series against South Africa. Rahul slammed a brilliant century during the first Test of the two-match series and played a knock of 101 runs. KL Rahul hit 14 fours and four sixes throughout his innings and helped the team reach a first-innings score of 245 runs.

However, Rahul was not able to help the team to win the match as India lost the first Test by an innings and 32 runs.

Rahul got injured while fielding on the boundary during an IPL 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rahul was ruled out of the whole edition and the rest four months as he sustained a thigh injury. Rahul went through surgery in London and started the rehabilitation process at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

KL Rahul went through a lot of pain during his recovery and made a return to the team in the Super 4 stage match of the 2023 Asia Cup. However, it has been a dream last 6 months for KL Rahul as he slammed a ton against Pakistan on his return. Rahul also played some fabulous knocks during the 2023 ODI World Cup and will aim to continue the performance for LSG in IPL 2024.
