In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Times of India, it is learned that the Delhi Capitals has retained Prithvi Shaw. The batter will be part of the team for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

There were a lot of reports that Delhi Capitals might release Prithvi Shaw ahead of the auction. The batter didn’t have a great run in the tournament last year and also was part of a lot of controversies. It was learned that the franchise wasn’t keen to have him in the team.

However, the recent reports suggested a completely different story. It’ll be a great opportunity for Prithvi Shaw to prove his worth and repay the faith of the management in him. The batter has been part of the franchise since 2018 and has played a great role at the top.

Prithvi Shaw had his worst season in the IPL last year. He was even dropped from the team after his poor performance. In 8 games he managed 106 runs at a poor average of just 13.25 and a strike rate of 124.52. His best performance came in DC’s second-last game against Punjab Kings where he scored a half-century.

If the reports related to him getting retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2024 emerge to be true, he would be hoping to assert his authority yet again. Overall in 71 games, the batter has scored 1694 runs at a strike rate of over 145. The batter has also smashed 13 half-centuries with the highest score of 99.

IPL 2024: Prithvi Shaw set to return to action through Ranji Trophy 2024

Prithvi Shaw has been out of the cricketing action for the last few months. He injured himself while playing for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club in England. He suffered a knee injury and was ruled out of the Syed Mushtaq Trophy and the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Prithvi Shaw has been undergoing rehabilitation and various reports have suggested that he will be recovering in time for the Ranji Trophy, slated to begin on 5th January. It’ll be a great opportunity for him to have game time ahead of the IPL 2024.
