With Rs. 29.10 crore available salary cap, Punjab Kings (PBKS) will be a dominating player during IPL 2024 auction. The season 2014 runners-up can pick 8 more players into their squad during IPL 2024 auction with this amount. Hence, Punjab Kings can grab some top players during the mini-auction.

IPL 2024 auction is set to take place on Tuesday, December 19 in Dubai. 333 players are part of the final draft and will go under the hammer during the event. There are 77 available slots across 10 IPL teams including 30 for overseas players.

Punjab Kings have witnessed a series of miserable shows in their last seasons. PBKS has consistently failed to reach playoffs. PBKS Kings finished as runners-up in the 2014 season. Post the season, they never managed to reach playoffs despite many changes in their squad and captainship. Last season, they ended in the 8th spot in the points table after the first round.

Punjab Kings often went with many changes in their squad. However, this time, the management has retained many core members. PBKS retained 17 players in their squad for next season. Key players like Shikhar Dhawan, Arshdeep Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Jonny Bairstow, Kagiso Rabada, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, and Rahul Chahar were among those who were retained by the team.

PBKS released 7 players from their squad. Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Shahrukh Khan, and Matthew Short were three big names who were dropped from the squad. Last season, Shikhar Dhawan was named as the skipper of the side. He is expected to lead the team in IPL 2024 too after his outstanding batting show last season.

Shikhar Dhawan is the captain of the Punjab Kings. Last season, Sam Curran was the vice-captain of the team. However, PBKS might pick a different vice-captain next season.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) Available Salary Cap For IPL 2024 Auction

Punjab Kings have retained 17 players in their squad for the next season. They have spent Rs. 70.90 crore on these players. Hence, they are left with Rs. 29.10 crore for the auction. It is a huge amount considering the fact the Gujarat Titans have the maximum funds available at Rs. 38+ crore.

PBKS can grab 8 more players into their squad during the auction. Since they already have 6 foreign players, they can only pick 2 more overseas players. The salary cap is increased by Rs. 5 crore in every auction. Hence, PBKS will benefit from the raise.
