Suryakumar Yadav was expected to lead India if Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma would have missed the T20 World Cup 2024. Surya was not part of the T20I series against Afghanistan and his place in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad shall be decided on his in the Indian Premier League 2024.

If we talk about the IND vs AFG 3rd T20I match, it was a Rohit Sharma show for India in Bengaluru. Rohit slammed 121* runs and hit a total of 11 fours and 8 sixes throughout his innings. This was Rohit’s 5th hundred in the T20Is and became the first batsman to reach the milestone.

With the T20 World Cup coming up, India are expected to be led by Rohit Sharma and his performance ahead of the tournament will certainly boost their chance to lift the trophy in 2024.

The past 14 months have seen Rohit Sharma withdraw from the T20I format. Sharma played his final Twenty20 international match against England in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final, before to the IND vs AFG T20I series. After India’s 10-wicket defeat at the hands of the Three Lions, Rohit and Virat Kohli have not played in the shortest international format.

In the T20Is, India were led by Hardik Pandya, who produced impressive performances, while Rohit Sharma refrained from playing. Though Pandya would have led India in the important ICC competition if Rohit hadn’t participated in the T20 World Cup 2024, his comeback will strengthen India’s chances of winning the competition.
