The Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals (DC), Sourav Ganguly, acknowledged that his team performed poorly in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Sourav Ganguly said that the Capitals didn’t get everything right and hoped to bounce back in the next IPL season.

Skipper Rishabh Pant was ruled out of the tournament, which had an impact on their team combination. The David Warner-led team managed to secure just five victories out of 14 matches in the IPL 2023. DC finished in ninth place in the 10-team points table last season.

“It was a very very poor season, by any standards and I think we did not do well enough. So it’s important for us that we learn from that and come back as a better team. There is no harm in losing but the problem will be when we don’t improve and get better,” said Ganguly.

The Delhi Capitals decided to part ways with former Indian bowler Ajit Agarkar and Australian all-rounder Shane Watson after a torrid IPL 2023 season. Agarkar and Watson had joined the franchise as assistant coaches before the 2022 IPL edition.

We Will Give You Everything – Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly highlighted that they have six months to improve and return stronger in the next edition of the cash-rich league.

“We have 6 months. We will give you everything, every support to come back as a better team next year. It’s not that we did everything right.

We did wrong things, made mistakes, we lost, we got beaten. The only thing which can take you to the next level is working hard. Use all the time at training only to get better. We will use this time to get better,” he added.

Rishabh Pant will return to his franchise team, as they have already begun preparations for the next edition. Pant’s presence as a batter and captain will enhance the team’s performance. He has scored 2838 runs in 98 IPL matches with an average of 34.61 and a strike rate of 147.97.
