Delhi Capitals (DC) have made another change to their coaching staff ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As per the reports in the Times of India, it is learned that the franchise has roped in former India all-rounder Vijay Bharadwaj as the head of the talent scout wing.
Delhi Capitals are making sure that they keep everything in the right place ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. They have made a lot of changes to their coaching staff and will be heading into the mega auction with fresh faces in the management.
Vijay Bharadwaj will be working under Director of Cricket Venugopal Rao and Head Coach Hemang Badani
The addition of Vijay Bharadwaj to the team comes ahead of the trials of the franchise. The first set of trials was scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on October 23. After that, the team will be conducting a second round in Mumbai in November. The former India all-rounder will have a keen eye on all the young players heading into the mega auction.
Vijay Bharadwaj will now be working under Director of Cricket Venugopal Rao and head Coach Hemang Badani in his new assignment. The two were recently added to the role after the Delhi Capitals parted ways with Ricky Ponting as well as former India skipper Sourav Ganguly.
Vijay Bharadwaj has a fair amount of experience in coaching roles. The former India all-rounder was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru as their assistant coach for the first three seasons. However, after that, he has been actively involved in commentary, coaching, and administrative roles.
Delhi Capitals have been working on having individuals who track domestic cricket very closely
The Delhi Capitals talent scout wing desperately needed an overhaul as they haven't been able to get the good domestic players. This was because of the foreign coaching staff of Ricky Ponting, Shane Watson, and others who have been with the team for the last few years.
But since the last few months, the franchise has been working on having individuals who track domestic cricket very closely and can do the job throughout the year. They are also keen to have a new bowling coach as well for the IPL 2025.
The reports claimed that DC is likely to rope in Munaf Patel as the bowling coach. The former India player has been tracking various T20 leagues in India and was spotted watching the Sher-E-Punjab T20 fixtures from the stands earlier this year.
Delhi Capitals are likely to make some more major announcements
A source close to the development, while talking about the same, said: "IPL is not just a two-month tournament. It needs planning, work and strategising throughout the year. There is so much cricket happening in and outside India and you can’t afford to switch off.
"Scouting, camps, trials, player development… so many things are at play and a franchise has to ensure they work 365 days a year to be on top,”
The reports claimed that Delhi Capitals are likely to make some more major announcements. The franchise, who have made wholesale changes already, will be confirming everything before October 31, which is the deadline for the IPL retentions.
